Sides of a Circle
| Band Members: Anatole Benito - Vocals and Guitar
Jonas Kreitzer - Guitar and Vocals
Cameron Broadhurst - Drummer
Bobby Weaver - Bass Guitar | | Bio: Sides of a Circle all started in late March '09 at a friend's birthday party. Before this, there was nothing more than informal jam sessions between Cameron, Jonas and Bobby until meeting Anatole at the party. After playing a little at Sam Ash, Anatole said to Jonas and Cameron, "Hey why don't we start a band." Cameron thought it was a great idea, but Jonas need some convincing before he would join. But after only a few weeks he did.
The three of them (Jonas, Anatole, and Cameron) started having several band practices and writing music with Jonas playing lead guitar, Anatole playing rthym guitar, and Cameron playing drums. Then the three of them finally realized that they needed a bass player and one of them needed to sing. Jonas' good friend Bobby played bass, so they decided in early summer of that year that he would play bass for the band.
Jonas had done some singing for school activities such as Chorus, so he was the first to try lead vocals, with Anatole doing backing vocals. But after a few practices both he and the band decided that for the time being he was not going to be the lead vocalist. After convincing Anatole to try to sing, they slowly tranisitioned Anatole into lead vocalist and Jonas into a side vocalist. After a few a okay band practices of Anatole singing and a few weeks of pondering thoughts of the band, it was decided that Anatole would do lead vocals while Jonas would do side vocals. But eventually they realized that they liked the sound and idea of having two lead vocalists. So after expirimenting with it, they started writing songs with two lead vocal parts, and decided that both Anatole and Jonas would do lead and side vocals.
The genre of Sides of a Circle is specifically 5% Progressive, 5% Blues, 15% Punk, 20% Grunge, 25% Alternative, and 30% Rock. Everyone in the band has very similar musical tastes, but have some certain preferences that make our signature sound.
Every member of the band is a strong believer of God and his word, and live lifestyles according to it. However, Sides of a Circle is ultimately not a Christian band simply because it is not our calling. The band is not going to stay inside our own Christian bubble when we could be spreading good, Godly messages to the secular world.
The band then started writing songs very often and really started getting serious about the music they wrote. After dozens of practices, the band started playing a few more shows. It seems that each show keeps getting better and that the members are learning from their mistakes and becomeing overall better performers. while the band does realize that they have a lot of work and practiceing to do, they decided that they are going to try record an EP this summer, aswell as continue to write songs for a future album, and keep playing shows. |
