LONG BEACH, Calif., Oct. 14 /Christian Newswire/ -- The sound of Christian Rock may never be the same after the premiere, self-titled album from the newly formed California band Sweet Chariot. The group brings together six experienced Christian musicians, each of whom brings a moving and passionate faith to the group's sound. Sweet Chariot redefines the increasingly popular Christian Rock genre for the current generation by drawing on elements of multiple music styles to create a new, more relevant sound. Sweet Chariot band members all bring their valuable life experiences to the group, making their heartfelt, worshipful songs appealing to a diverse audience. The band's ability to engage and interact with the crowd on an emotional and spiritual level will cement their position as a powerful new voice in the Christian Rock world. Lead singer Jacki Taylor brought the band members together to write and produce a solo project. Once the original project was complete, the participants were no longer just five musicians; they had become band members. Jacki's faith has been strong since her childhood, but her daughter's battle with Leukemia strengthened her beliefs. "Life experiences have given the band the motivation for their music, and sharing those experiences is part of the deal," explained Jacki's husband, Curtis Taylor, also a member of a band. Curtis and Jacki's daughter, McKenzi, is now a healthy 7-year-old girl--a miracle they attribute to the healing power of the Lord. The story of the Taylor family's struggle is told in the raw and reverent track, Never Alone. Jacki and Curtis are not the only band members with a touching story. Drummer Eric Wilkins is legally blind, an ailment that forces him to rely on his faith each and every day. Jim Rupe, Ryan Tilo, and Blake Harper each contributes his time, passion, and experiences to the band, along with their talents for playing guitar. Three members of Sweet Chariot were previously bandmates in Every Day Life (EDL); Curtis Taylor, Eric Wilkins, and Jim Rupe have reunited in Sweet Chariot, but with a whole new musical style that reveals the musicians' focus on worship. Sweet Chariot is available for purchase from the band's website at www.sweetchariotmusic.com and from iTunes for $9.99.

FRENCHTOWN, NJ, Sept. 22 /Christian Newswire/ -- Revelation Generation (www.revgen.org), held annually at Revelation Farms in Hunterdon County, took another step in securing its place as one of the most highly anticipated music festivals in the mid-Atlantic region. Celebrating its fifth anniversary this past Labor Day weekend, the festival welcomed approximately 30,000 fans over the course of two days -- topping last year's mark of 23,000. This year's RevGen featured a number of high profile, chart- topping acts including Switchfoot, Underoath, MercyMe, Relient K, Jars of Clay, Emery, The Ember Days and many more. In total, over 40 performers took to five incredibly diverse stages. Fans also enjoyed a range of non-music activities including a massive merch tent, professional BMX bike and skate demos, games, regional foods and more. Adding to the concert's success, partner charities D.A.R.E. and To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA) - a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide - benefited from heightened awareness and significant financial support through the generous donations of festival attendees. Hunterdon Prevention Resources (HPR), a local drug prevention agency that strives to empower individuals with hands on demonstrations about the effects of drug use, also had a presence at the festival. Finally, Glen Duncan of the Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program led a question and answer session about practical solutions to substance dependency. "We were blown away at the level of generosity and sense of community we saw at RevGen," said D.A.R.E. NJ chairman Nick Demauro. "This festival really is a anomaly in today's concert scene -- I can't think of anywhere else where so many different people can come together, experience some great music and simply be themselves." The Philadelphia, New York and Nashville Stages churned out impressive sets to even more fans than last year while the newly added Urban Stage and the Come & Live Stage were welcomed with open arms. The Urban Stage brought an entirely new sound to RevGen, featuring hip-hop and rap artists like Lecrae and Group One Crew. To complement, the Come & Live Stage attracted crowds seeking to hear the music industry's latest up-and-comers as well as stage emcee Chad Johnson. Johnson, who is with the Come & Live label, has taken a revolutionary approach to supporting artists by helping them impact fans' lives in a positive way. "Everyone involved in this year's show -- staff, bands, fans -- are raving about how well the show went," said festival promoter Tim Harris. "And I think it goes beyond two days of great music. With D.A.R.E., TWLOHA and our other partners we were able to give something back to the community and we were able to welcome people from all sorts of different backgrounds -- that's a huge part of what RevGen is all about." A RevGen feature in its second year, Tent 7 experienced a massive rise in popularity. Tent 7 provides lucky fans the opportunity to sit in on intimate interview sessions with their favorite performers. Throughout the festival, artists stopped by to share their stories -- and the lines of fans seeking to join in extended across the field in front of the New York Stage. "This year's RevGen show was amazing on so many levels," said concertgoer Evan Miklosey, a student at Delaware Valley Regional High School. "Every band I saw sounded amazing, but there's more to RevGen than the music -- it's a sense of community that makes this festival something totally its own." About Revelation GenerationIn its fifth year, Revelation Generation is the premier annual music festival in the greater New York and greater Philadelphia area -- bringing a world-class entertainment experience to Central New Jersey. The unique non-profit event takes place in Frenchtown, NJ at Revelation Farms, a sprawling 140-plus acre property owned by festival founders, Robert and Kim Grom. Revelation Generation brings together a unique mix of emerging and award-winning musical artists spanning rock, pop, alternative, and punk, along with inspiring speakers, demonstrations, activities, and games in an alcohol-free and drug-free venue that anyone can enjoy. "Live Life Loud is really about encouraging our fans to do just that. To live your life loud, to embrace all that life brings your way and experience every moment of it to the fullest extent. This is the message we want our fans to come away with after they hear the album." -- Hawk Nelson bassist Daniel Biro. Recorded in Nashville, TN, Hawk Nelson enlisted producer Steve Wilson to craft what was to become a 12-song set that sweeps from the manic to the mellow and all points in between. Live Life Loud was recorded in two separate sessions, due to a hectic touring schedule, and marks the first time the band wrote songs together by just jamming as a band. The album also features collaborations with Chris Stevens, Matthew Gerrard, TobyMac, Trevor McNevan and Bart Millard. This fourth studio album release from the band hits fans' hands on September 22nd. The first two singles "Live Life Loud" and "Meaning of Life" are currently available on iTunes. Also make sure you pick up your pair of TOMS Shoes to help the band get their goal for their Haiti shoe drop. For every pair of shoes purchased via Hawk Nelson's website equals a pair of shoes that TOMS donates to a child in Haiti towards the band's ongoing involvement with the Hands & Feet Orphanage. Check out the YouTube video.

NASHVILLE, July 24 /Christian Newswire/ -- GMA Dove winners and former MSN "Artist of the Year" David Crowder*Band will release their fifth studio album, Church Music, on Sept. 22 from sixstepsrecords and EMI CMG Label Group.
Aptly titled, the band hopes their self-produced recording will prompt listeners to recognize the continual evolvement of music within the church as well as transport them into an awareness that we exist within the very presence of God, therefore allowing Church Music to happen anywhere.
"I hope this album serves as a reminder of music within the Church, of its richness and its broadness, and the tension that exists in using elements of cultural language to express our collective experience and also still remain a transformative presence that is set apart," admits band front man David Crowder.
To add to the uniqueness of the album, the 17 songs on the album play continuously from beginning to end with one song blending into the next. In order to accomplish this, the band poured an immense amount of work into the process, sequencing the tracks before anything had been recorded so keys and tempos could be finalized. The result: 73 full minutes of music - 17 tracks, which ably stand alone, while at the same time seamlessly join together.
The band's first single received a warm welcome on iTunes ® capturing the No. 1 spot on the Christian and Gospel Singles chart the week it was released. "How He Loves" just debuted at No. 26 on the AC Indicator chart.
With over 23,000 followers on twitter and an active myspace and web page, David Crowder*Band gave fans the opportunity to follow the making of Church Music through live 24-hour studio web-cams and viral videos titled "Rockumentaries." With around 50,000 views, the four short films include parodies chronicling everything from a twitter obsession to battling guitar solos for the new record. To view these "Rockumentaries," visit www.youtube.com/davidcrowderband.
On the heels of the highly successful Remedy Club tour which sold out notable clubs and theatres across the US, David Crowder*Band will headline the Church Music Tour with opening acts Danyew and Seabird starting this Oct. Appropriately titled, most of the tour's 32 stops will take place in churches across the country. - Christian Newswire
Wow, God is awesome. Skillet and Rilient K totally had the crowd into it last night. Our favorite part of this event is seeing the youth worship and connect with each other, the bands, speakers and most important, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
